New Devotional Book

My mother, my best friend sent me an e-book gift on my kindle. I had a long conversation with her about how, I feel God calling me to something higher and I do not know what to do. I explained to her how I want to start building the trust and relationship stronger with God. I asked my mom for direction, “Mom, how do I do it”? My goal was to spend at least 5 minutes every morning with God.

My mom did not have any quick answers but she did listen and pray for me. I tried so hard to wake up that next morning and start my day with God. I failed though. Problem is I do not sleep at night. I am a “serious” insomniac. I cannot get up early in the morning if I cannot fall asleep till 5 in the morning.

I decided to do my devotional at night. After writing on my blog and kids and hubby are fast asleep; I have the peace and quietness I need to draw closer to him.

Ne-ways. This devotional only takes about 3 minutes to read. I have to start somewhere and that is where I am. God is willing to take you wherever you are in your life. Just give God all you can, and all you have. God just wants you to start.

So, interesting point though. The morning of June 13, around 3 a.m. I decided to begin my daily devotional with God. It was perfect in every way. This book begins at January 1st but I skipped ahead to begin on the date of the day I started reading it. God was in that decision.

The first part of the devotion says, “I am creating something new in you: a bubbling spring of Joy that spills over into others’ lives”.

I honestly believe God was speaking to me in that devotional more directly than I have ever experienced in my life. The moment I decided to start reading a devotional and the time in my life, I feel the need to draw closer to him and those are the first words I read, as I begin my spiritual journey.

Thank you, God for giving me reassurance through even the simplest things in life. A sentence from a book brought me the confidence I needed to continue to dedicate time aside for you.
